Mortegard Expeditions Release Information

As we begin the final approach toward Q3 of 2022 we are pleased to say that the progress on the latest gameplay layer to Mortegard is approaching completion. We are planning for a release in the month of June after an open testnet beta trial.

Expeditions are an additional layer of complexity to the Mortegard economy, introducing 10 new items, and opening up Tier 3 developments to be built.

A new expeditions client will be released, allowing players to send their courtiers on missions or quests to one of five locations in ‘the wilderland’.

The process

Each location will feature a unique ‘rare item’ as well as five ‘common’ items, each represented as an ERC-20 token.

Players send their courtiers on missions to these locations in the hopes they will return with these items, which will be randomized using an oracle service.

With each expedition, players will need to send resources(represented as five ERC-20 tokens) with each courtier to supply them for their journey. The combination and quantity of resources will vary based on the location, but players will also have the ability to pay with Matic, which will automate the process of swapping for resources and burning them. Similar to Kingdoms, Expeditions will grant items to players in 24 hour cycles, but will require players to redeploy their explorers with each cycle.

These resource tokens will be mostly burned and in part be sent to players that opt to become wildervardens, which will be explained in full in a later article.

Item drop rates are randomized and will be revealed to players upon the conclusion of that cycle and return on the courtiers.

At the conclusion of a cycle, players will make the decision to retrieve the items collected from the expeditions or spend them on research. They will then be able to send their courtier off on another expedition or have them return from the wilderlands and placed back into their wallet.

Leveling

At first one courtier can be sent per location at any given cycle. But as a player increases their understanding of the area through ‘research’, this limitation will lift, allowing additional courtiers to be sent on each cycle.

Each location will feature an ‘experience bar’ which can be filled by sacrificing the items a courtier receives in exchange for ‘research’ this research fills the experience bar. Once the experience bar is full the ‘ruler’ or ‘expeditioner’, represented by their unique wallet address, will level up for that area.

Higher levels result in a greater number of courtiers being able to be sent to that location as well as slight drop-rate improvements.

Utility

Different combinations of these items, coupled with resources from a player’s kingdom will be used to create a new echelon of developments called ‘Tier 3’. Each of these items will also be coupled with MORTGold in a liquidity pool on Uniswap allowing players to buy and sell them for gold, as well as for USDC.

These items may also come with large multipliers for story events, allowing players to accumulate large scores for the distribution of rewards during these.

Expeditions are scheduled for release before the end of Q2. To get the jump on this system, participate in the beta, or begin you kingdom in anticipation of this update, you can join our Discord, or follow us on Twitter.
