Introducing Mortegard, a Play-to-Earn Kingdom Builder

Mortegard is a Play-to-Earn kingdom building game created for the Polygon Network.

Mortegard is set in the fantasy universe of the same name. Players are granted the chance to participate in the world and economy of Mortegard and earn a return on their time for doing so. This can take the form of Tokenized Resources, generated by in-game assets, or from ERC-1155 NFTs while participating in various game mechanics.

The World of Mortegard

Recovering from war with a terrifying foe called The Crooked, the 4 nations of Mortegard have been reduced to a fractured shadow of their former glory. This has opened up a chance for opportunistic would-be rulers to seize power for themselves and aid in rebuilding the stability of the land.

As a player, you fill the role of a ruler and are granted the capacity to own one or more castles, building a kingdom of your own as you see fit. In doing so you will generate a base level of resources, represented as ERC-20 tokens.

Design your kingdom to be a religious epicenter, a wooded refuge, a densely populated tax farm or any combination you choose.

The resources generated by the kingdoms of you and your fellow players form the foundation of the in-game economy. These resources can be reinvested to create development NFTs, enhancing a kingdom’s resource generation, contributed to world-building and story events, which reward limited mint developments, castles, and courtiers, or sold for MATIC in Liquidity Pools on Uniswap.

The uses for these resources will continue to grow as new aspects of gameplay are introduced.

The Model of Mortegard

Players of Mortegard will be able to earn a real world income from the trade of resources, the creation of developments, or acquisition of limited mint NFTs.

All Mortegard NFTs will be free to trade on marketplaces like OpenSea without any cut taken by the development team.

At launch, players will require at least one Castle NFT to begin their journey into Mortegard. Several variations will be available, each with unique base generation and aesthetics.

Castles, and developments on the lands surrounding them, may be staked via our DApp. Multiple castles can be arranged as players see fit, each granting an additional 18 tiles of land to develop.

Players will also be able to stake up to 3 Courtiers within each castle. Courtiers are characters from the land of Mortegard that will serve in the castles they are placed, granting bonuses to all the land encompassed by that kingdom.

Vision of Mortegard

Our aim in the creation of Mortegard is to create a fully functioning, on-chain fantasy kingdom builder.

Mortegard’s world and lore will continue to expand and evolve with player participation, creating an ever-evolving world and play climate with growing stakes and new aspects for players to explore.

We strive to keep the play requirements accessible for as many people as possible. Our goal is to create a sustainable, balanced economy, ensuring game longevity.

In order to achieve this, we have not tied the castle locations to a fixed position on an in-game map. Each player’s kingdom is built in a self contained environment within our client. Players will be able to interact directly with smart contracts through our DApp with their kingdom built and customized to their liking.

Scarcity of land will be defined by the fixed number of castles minted on a seasonal basis. In doing this we are able to expand the land available as the game and user base grows. This also helps to keep the economic model sustainable over the long term. Seasonal castles will never be re-minted. Future gameplay elements will also be introduced that do not require a castle to play

Earn Your Keep

Mortegard is set to release in Q1 of 2022. Castles, and fundraising tiles have already been minted and are available on OpenSea.

We as a team are working within the constraints of a limited budget, and funds raised from these sales will go into marketing, liquidity pool creation and polishing for the initial release of the game.

Many thousands of hours have gone into the creation of the client, art, and lore of the Mortegard Universe. We hope to create a compounding return of enjoyment for the players of the game upon release.
